Event & Brand Design
A proposal for the Communication Design senior capstone showcase: DAAPworks, 2026.
Background
University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, & Planning [DAAP] hosts an annual event for seniors to showcase their capstones and final projects. This event is known as DAAPworks. The Communication Design cohort works together each year to develop an internal brand specific to their major's graduating class, hosting and creating an experience for their visitors.
BRAND STORY
On the precipice of graduation, our class is about to enter a world where design is cloaked in the mundane. That is not a reflection of how our class runs the show.
We use thoughtful, unconventional tactics to transform the world around us, and our final display of work will be no different.
THE TAKEOVER is evidence of our talent, grit, and perseverance. Our success is inevitable, and there is nowhere to hide.

OUR PILLARS
At the core of the work we do are four main pillars. Each student's project falls into at least one of these categories, telling a story that is inevitably impactful.

Branding
Our brand aims to deliver a feeling of confidence and competency. These typefaces can appear to be used in official, well-written documentation, or altered with a twist of application to feel out of the norm and still cohesive and strong.
The appearance of this collection means business, and so do we. The electric blue which underscores our show represents the strength of our class. It is not meant to overwhelm, nor to be overly shocking. This interruption both contrasts and supports the base design when necessary, delivering a message that cannot be ignored.
touchpoints
To host this event, we anticipate many touchpoints such as invitations, website and social media presence, environmental graphics, and merch.

REFLECTION
A collaborative group of designers telling a story together can create an immersive experience that speaks to their goals and invites the audience to learn more.
